Deepmark vs Raindrop.io, compared honestly

Raindrop has been at this for over a decade, and it shows in ways a newer product can't fake:

• The free tier is genuinely unlimited: unlimited bookmarks, collections, highlights and devices, forever. Deepmark has no free tier at all; a demo library behind sign-up is the only taste before paying.
• It runs everywhere. Four browser extensions, native Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android apps. Deepmark is a web app and a Chrome extension.
• Organization tooling is mature: nested collections, batch operations, four view modes, duplicate and broken-link cleanup (Pro), plus collaboration and public collections on the free plan.
• Your data walks out the door freely: HTML, CSV and TXT export, daily backups (Pro), cloud backup, a public API. Deepmark has no export button yet; email support and your JSON gets sent to you, which is honest but clearly worse.
• Pro is cheap: $2.30 a month billed annually buys full-text search, a permanent web archive and the Stella AI assistant. Deepmark costs roughly three times that, because transcribing and describing every save costs real money per item.

If what you want is a well-organized, affordable home for links you file into collections, buy Raindrop and skip the rest of this page.

A bookmark manager saves a link and a title. Deepmark saves what is inside it, and that difference decides which product can find a save you half-remember:

• Search covers what was said, not just what was written. Every video and reel is transcribed in some 99 languages — an English query finds a Hindi transcript. Raindrop's video search covers YouTube transcripts only, on the Pro plan. Its own docs state text inside images is not searchable (no OCR), while Deepmark reads on-screen text out of video frames and describes page screenshots for search.
• Your saves come to it on their own. X bookmarks, Instagram saves and YouTube Watch Later sync in the background from your own browser session. In Raindrop those are manual saves, file imports, or Zapier chains you maintain yourself; X bookmark sync is an open request on their feedback board.
• Semantic search over layers Raindrop doesn't have. To be fair: Raindrop's docs say its search matches by meaning too. But it can only match what it has indexed: titles, tags and notes on the free plan; page text, PDFs and YouTube transcripts on Pro. It never sees a reel transcript, on-screen text, or a description of how a page looked, because none of those exist in Raindrop. In Deepmark, "the reel with the one-pan pasta trick" surfaces the reel because the transcript and the frame text are in the index. Conversational retrieval in Raindrop goes through the Stella chat assistant, currently a Pro beta.
• Your AI agent can use it. Deepmark is also an MCP server — Claude, Cursor or any MCP client can search your library and read full transcripts with one URL and an OAuth sign-in.

The trade is plain: Deepmark indexes deeper and costs more, has no free tier, no native mobile apps yet, and export is by email. It earns its keep only if you save things faster than you file them, and the things you save include video.

Can I move my Raindrop library into Deepmark?

Yes, with one hop: Raindrop exports standard bookmarks HTML; import that file into Chrome, and Deepmark's extension indexes the whole tree, folders and all. There is no one-click Raindrop importer yet.

Does Deepmark have a free plan?

No. There's a demo library you can search after signing up, then one plan: $7/month billed yearly at $84, or $10 paid monthly. Everything is included, no tiers.

Can I get my data out of Deepmark?

Today, by emailing support — you get your JSON. A self-serve export doesn't exist yet, and you should weigh that honestly against Raindrop's excellent portability.
